Editing tables can be a challenge when they contain text that doesn’t fit within the cells. While InDesign’s default view shows the familiar red dot to indicate overset in an individual cell, the text can be difficult to edit when you can’t see the overage.

Switch to the Story Editor view to display the overset text by selecting Edit>Edit in Story Editor. Red lines in Story Editor view indicate exactly where the overset begins. InDesign users can edit the text in this view, and the Layout view will be updated in a separate window to reflect the text changes.
