The American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) revealed its finalists for the 2013 National Magazine Awards this week.

National Geographic leads the pack with seven nominations, with Bon Appétit and New York trailing only slightly behind with six nominations each. GQ, The New Yorker, Esquire, Harper’s Magazine, Mother Jones, and Texas Monthly also made a significant showing.

Finalists in the Magazine of the Year category, honoring excellence both in print and on digital platforms, will be announced on Monday, April 8.

The winners will be presented with their awards on Thursday, May 2, at the New York Marriott Marquis.
