There have been more media industry hiring announcements in the past couple of weeks, as well as two interesting profiles of female leaders in publishing. Here’s our roundup of the latest news highlighting women’s roles in the evolving media landscape:

  • Pilar Guzmán

    Guzmán

    Martha Stewart Living Editor in Chief Pilar Guzmán has been tapped to take on the same role at Condé Nast Traveler. She replaces Klara Glowczewska, who has been with Traveler since its launch in 1987. Guzmán was previously at Condé Nast as the founder and EIC of the now-defunct parenting magazine Cookie.

  • Meredith Corp. announced that Alison Adler Matz will join More magazine as its Publisher this month. Matz is currently Senior Vice President, Strategic Brand Sales, at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and was previously Publisher for the company’s Everyday Food and Whole Living magazines.
  • Callie Schweitzer is on board at Time Inc. in the newly created role of Director of Digital Innovation, where she will guide the social media team and oversee newsletters and other products. Her most recent role was Director of Marketing and Communications at Vox Media.
  • Kyra Kyles has been promoted to the role of Managing Editor for Jet magazine’s website. She had been a Senior Editor at Jet since November 2011.
  • Eva Chen, who took on the role of Editor in Chief at Lucky in June, is profiled in a New York Times article this week. It examines the social-media-savvy 33-year-old’s background and her approach to turning around the struggling magazine.
  • The Times also profiled Katharine Weymouth, Publisher of The Washington Post, on Aug. 2, just three days before the surprise announcement that the newspaper was being sold to Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos.
