Nonprofit news magazine and website Mother Jones recently gathered some stats on email use that paints a rather stark picture of work/life balance for many employees. The benefits of constant access to information—and each other—are undeniable, but there are clearly negative aspects as well, as the line between work and leisure becomes increasingly blurred thanks to the pervasiveness of always-on technology.

As we head into the July 4th weekend here in the U.S., keep these stats in mind—and consider shutting down your computer, turning off that smartphone, and taking a break from your email!
