How do you stack up? If you’re a blogger (and many of us in the publishing business are), make sure to check out this week’s infographic pick from Orbit Media Studios. Based on an Orbit Media survey, it not only highlights blogging trends and changes ahead, but also best practices for succeeding in the highly competitive field.

Not surprisingly, the research shows the top 6% of bloggers invest twice as much time as the bottom 70%, a finding that remained unchanged over the previous year, the report said. Other takeaways include:

  • More blogging is being done during office hours.
  • Social media is the most popular promotional channel.
  • Most posts are between 500 and 1,000 words, and more are including images and audio.
  • A majority of bloggers publish weekly or more often, and write for more than one blog.
