Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite Analytics Service is a powerful resource that can help publishers of DPS apps gain insight into how editorial and advertising content is received and how readers are engaging with that content. This feedback allows them to adjust their content to achieve the desired presentation and performance. When the reader has a good experience, the potential for future revenue from sales or advertising grows.

There are two types of analytics used with DPS: base-level analytics and SiteCatalyst. Using the base-level analytics that are included with Professional and Enterprise editions of Digital Publishing Suite, publishers can gather an array of information using a predefined set of metrics. Publishers who have Adobe SiteCatalyst, which requires a subscription, can gather more types of information and can then customize which data is collected and how it is presented.

The following are examples of the metrics that can be gathered using either set of analytics tools:

  • Application Installs/App First-Time Launch
  • App Start-ups/Launches
  • Issue Purchased
  • Issues Downloaded
  • Issue Download Failed
  • Ad Views
  • Overlay Type, Starts, and Stops
  • Video Starts

Additional metrics available to SiteCatalyst subscribers include the following:

  • App/Viewer Versions
  • Visits, Visitors, Time Spent per Visit
  • Issue Download Error Type
  • Content Title
  • Ad Title
  • Article Title
  • Page Number
  • Content Type/Views
  • Edit Views
  • Orientation
  • Audio Start/Stops
  • Visitor Profile
  • Social Share

For DPS Professional Edition customers who do not have a SiteCatalyst subscription, the base-level analytics are enabled and do not require additional configuration. For DPS Enterprise customers without the SiteCatalyst subscription, base-level analytics can be configured using the Account Administration tool in the Digital Publishing Suite dashboard.
