Got email? In the business world, there’s no getting around the need to network effectively. That means building relationships, often starting with a single email conversation. Question is, what’s the best way to take that first step?

Our Infographic Pick of the Week from Sidekick by HubSpot looks at how to write a networking email that gets a response instead of ending up in the trash. The most important thing is to do your research before you reach out to someone. Find out where they are online and what their interests are, and then try to engage with the person on social media.

Other things to keep in mind: skip generic openings, keep emails short and focused, add value, and make it easy for the person to respond.
